Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant - Portland, OR
Job Duties:
- Prepare and examine financial records, identify potential areas of opportunity and risk, and provide solutions for business clients and individual clients primarily within the healthcare industry.
- Prepare and review tax returns and develop tax strategies for business and individual tax clients ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
- Provide month-end close processes to tax clients.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Review tax clients’ accounts receivable and accounts payable for discrepancies and to reconcile differences.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- Provide cash flow analysis.
- Produce accurate multi-state returns and handle complex tax questions.
- Research basic and complex tax matters.
- Develop positive relationships and work directly with clients and colleagues.
- Evaluate taxpayer finances to determine tax liability, using knowledge of interest and discount rates, annuities, valuation of stocks and bonds, and amortization valuation of depletable assets.
- Prepare tax provisions for corporate and passthrough entities.
- Assist with resolution of tax matters with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax authorities.
Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (U.S. or foreign equivalent) and five years Accounting experience.
- Five years of experience required in each of the following: tax preparation; tax; public accounting with an emphasis in passthrough entity taxation; tax accounting; tax preparation software, accounting, and working with Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience may be gained concurrently.
- Requires CPA licensure in Oregon and state of residence (if other than Oregon) or must be eligible for CPA licensure.
- Employee must work in the Pacific Time Zone, have reliable internet access, and have access to an area where they can work and attend meetings free of distraction.
- Employee must be able to work during the firm’s normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Alternative work schedules may be arranged with supervisor approval as long as a majority of the employee’s working hours overlap with the firm’s normal business hours.
